Inquiry to Innovation
Honors seminar, fall 2013
|
The ReflectionThe first semester of my freshman year, I enrolled in an honors seminar called "Inquiry to Innovation." I didn't know much about the course, but was urged by my academic advisor to take it. This is another one of those moments where I signed up for something on some random reason that was not at all substantial... in all honesty, I needed more credit hours and the class meeting times happened to work with my schedule. Yay for these kinds of moments! Why? Because they always lead me to some sort of challenging and beneficial experience.
Lucky enough for me, I took it upon myself (extra credit may have been involved) to write a class reflection at the conclusion of the course. I will attach a link here: /uploads/2/3/7/6/23762918/class_reflection.docx that describes some of what I gained from taking the course. To the left of this column is my group's final presentation and some pictures of our preliminary research for the project. The goal of the course, essentially, was to address a problem happening in the UC community and fix it. This required field research, creative thinking, and group cooperation. My group's task was to address the problem of communication on campus. More specifically, the communication of downtown Cincinnati events to UC students. Through months of research, we decided that the best solution to this problem was to create a group. Our creative name: Cincy Cats! I'll let the prezi speak for itself in content. But I have an update on the presentation and my group: we were invited by City Council to present our ideas to a new committee on communication! We are in the process of coordinating a date and details, and I will post information here when it comes to me. |
